Island Shops at Downtown Pawleys and the American Red Cross are asking for the community’s help to meet a critical need for blood.

The two groups are hosting a blood drive Wednesday, March 31st at the Island Shops at Downtown Pawleys, located 10659 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island. People can donate blood from noon to 5 p.m.  

"Winter weather and COVID-19 have dramatically decreased donor turnout at many blood drives. Donations are critically needed for thousands of patients to receive necessary, life-saving treatments."

To make an appointment, visit the "Find a Drive" section on the American Red Cross' website (www.redcrossblood.org) and use the sponsor code "islandshops" to see available times and schedule an appointment.

The Red Cross is following Food and Drug Administration (FDA) blood donation eligibility guidance for those who have received a COVID-19 vaccination.

Those who have gotten a COVID-19 vaccination will need to provide the manufacturer name when donating and/or bring the COVID-19 vaccine card or printout given upon vaccination, according to the release. Anyone with further questions is asked to call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
